National Micronutrient Survey in Bangladesh

Project Brief

A cross-sectional study using multi-stage cluster sampling methods estimated key micronutrient indicators for eight Bangladeshi administrative divisions (urban and rural areas separately).This study surveyed urban and rural areas in eight Bangladeshi administrative divisions (Dhaka, Maynmansngh, Bariasal, Khulna, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Chattogram). This study included NPNL women aged 15-49 years and children aged 6 to 59 months who had lived in a cluster for more than six months at the time of the survey. The survey was conducted in 244 cluster which cover all the 64 districts of Bangladesh. The study assessed key biomarkers of micronutrients which are vit A, vit D, vit B12, folate, iron zinc and Iodine. Hemoglobin were assessed for anaemeia in both of children and NPNL women.
